Nationalist propaganda was distinct from Christian propaganda. Nonetheless, they were clearly drawing on similar imagery and sometimes aimed for the same results. Most conspicuously, Christians were involved in the Nationalists’ New Life Movement. The Religious Tract Society, for example, printed booklets and tracts in support of it. A close look at the Nationalists’ New Life propaganda and Christian imagery during the early years of the movement (1934-37) shows a convergence in messages. For a time, at least, the reigning regime enlisted Christian support to renew the nation.
